The Philadelphia Eagles waived quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson on Sunday afternoon, according to an official team announcement.
This development comes as no surprise.
For about a week (or so) during training camp, it looked like DTR might make a legitimate run as the Eagles’ third quarterback job.
But then DTR really struggled in a preseason game against his former team, the Cleveland Browns. As a result, the Eagles demoted DTR to barely taking reps behind rookie Kyle McCord. DTR didn’t even play in Philadelphia’s third and final preseason game.
The Eagles trading for Sam Howell on Sunday morning further cemented DTR’s inevitable exit. Howell figures to be QB3 for the Birds this season once Tanner McKee is healthy enough to serve as QB2.
