MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the victim killed in a rear-end collision Saturday evening.

Robert Anderson, 45, of Summerville, died from the injuries he sustained in the collision, Coroner Darnell Hartwell said.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway said the crash happened at about 10:08 p.m. on US-17A near SC Highway 6 in Moncks Corner.

Ridgeway says a 2012 Mercedes SUV was trying to escape from law enforcement when the driver hit the back of a 2003 Infiniti SUV, which was stopped at a traffic light.

Both the driver and the passenger of the Infiniti SUV were taken to Trident Medical Center, Ridgeway said, where the passenger, Anderson, later died. The driver of the Mercedes was not hurt during the cr
