A small airplane crashed Sunday afternoon in Gulf Shores, according to police.

“Large police presence on Highway 59 between Coastal Alabama Community College and the Gulf Shores Tourism Center,” Gulf Shores police reported on social media.

“There is no impact to traffic, traffic is flowing normally.”

The pilot and his wife were injured, according to WKRG , but the severity of their injuries was not immediately known.

The crash happened when the plane clipped a tree as it landed, Gulf Shores News reported.
