A Tuscaloosa woman died after she was ejected from an SUV that overturned and hit an embankment and utility pole early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Tresda M. Caddell, 38, of Tuscaloosa, was a passenger in a 2002 GMC Yukon that left U.S. 11 near Cedar Cove Loop Road around 5:30 a.m. Saturday when the SUV struck an embankment, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey.

The SUV then overturned and hit a utility pole, said Bailey.

Caddell, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the single-vehicle crash, was ejected from the SUV and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, about two miles east of Coaling in Tuscaloosa County.

The driver of the Yukon was not injured.

The driver of the GMC, Dwight J. Jones, 66, of Cottondale, was not injured.
