TOMMY FLEETWOOD enjoyed the best day of his golfing career after finally achieving his American dream.

The Englishman, who has endured so many near-misses on the PGA Tour, finally got over the line to win the Tour Championship at East Lake.

Fleetwood, 34, also claimed the Fedex Cup and banked £7.4million ($10m) after triumphing on US soil for the first time in his career at the season-ending event in Atlanta.

He carded a final-round 68 to finish on 18-under-par for the tournament - three shots clear of both Patrick Cantlay and Russell Henley.

Ryder Cup team-mates Justin Rose and Shane Lowry greeted Fleetwood around a packed 18th green.
