A man struck by an SUV in west Dearborn on Saturday night and seriously injured had visited the police station after an alleged assault this week to express concern for his safety, according to a police statement Sunday.
The victim was in critical condition at a local hospital, police said. A suspect, 38, a Dearborn resident, allegedly fled after the incident and was being held at the city jail. Police characterized the incident as "an attempted homicide" after a report of a man lying on the sidewalk after he crossed Michigan Avenue on foot.
"Preliminary review suggests the act was intentional," police said.
The incident occurred at Michigan Avenue and Howe Street.
