A familiar face is returning to Philadelphia.
The Eagles have acquired offensive tackle Fred Johnson from the Jacksonville Jaguars, a person with knowledge of the trade confirmed to NJ Advance Media. ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news on Sunday night.
Johnson spent the last two seasons with the Eagles and left in free agency for the Jaguars. He started six games for Philadelphia’s offensive line last year, replacing injured left tackle Jordan Mailata in four of those starts.
According to Schefter, the Eagles sent a 2026 seventh-round pick to Jacksonville to get their old swing tackle back.
The Eagles’ offensive line depth looked shaky during training camp. General manager Howie Roseman did not successfully replace Johnson and backup left tackle became a huge issue.
Problem solved.
