It's no secret that U.S.-Canada relations have been tense so far in 2025 with trade talks impacting everyone from businesses to diplomats.

The two countries traded tariffs with President Donald Trump at one point suspending talks between the two sides and slapping 35-percent tariffs on Canadian goods. In recent days, Canada appears to be looking to deescalate the feud, removing retaliatory tariffs and seeking to jumpstart negotiatons.

Canadian diplomates here in Boston are optimistic things will get back to the status quo but admit it may take a while for the relationship to get back to normal.
