HARVEYS LAKE — After two years of pristine conditions, it seemed like the Back Mountain Triathlon was due for a little bit of inclement weather.

Late-arriving rain may have dampened the course, but it was powerless to dampen the spirits of the athletes, volunteers and fans that came together to make the third edition of the Back Mountain Triathlon another rousing success on Sunday.

“I won’t feel the come down until we finish the clean-up, but I will say this has been the best year yet,” race director Dave Bass said after Sunday’s medal ceremony. “It’s finally getting close to what I envisioned from the start, as far as the number of participants and the excitement from the athletes.”
