LAKELAND, Tenn. (WMC) - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged a person for allegedly pointing a gun at deputies.

On August 22, around 11:49 p.m., a deputy was conducting a traffic stop for a traffic violation in the area of Canada Road and Kingsridge Drive.

The driver, Lee Tate, 66, had two active warrants for his arrest, one for vandalism of $1,000 or less and the other for reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.

Additional deputies responded and ordered Tate to step outside the vehicle, but SCSO says he became combative and refused to exit the vehicle.

As SCSO was speaking with Tate, according to deputies, he took out a black and silver pistol from his pocket and began to point it toward the deputies.
