For the first time since June 6, the New York Yankees finally beat the Boston Red Sox.
The Red Sox were unable to sweep the Yankees in the Bronx this weekend, losing Sunday’s series finale 7-2. The loss snapped Boston’s eight-game winning streak against New York — the franchise’s longest since 2009.
While the Red Sox took three of four from the Yankees, they fell short of completing their first four-game sweep at Yankee Stadium since July 1939 .
New York bounced back after getting blown out 12-1 on Saturday, mashing four home runs (two apiece from Trent Grisham and Jazz Chisholm Jr.) and limiting Boston to just two runs on five hits.
