ABERDEEN, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Firefighters are close to containing a wildfire that began overnight in a remote area west of Aberdeen.

The Split Top Fire has engulfed 5,447 acres of grass and brush 20 miles west of Aberdeen, near the Split Top and Arco-Minidoka roads, according to the Bureau of Land Management .

BLM reported at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday that the fire was 80% contained and would be fully contained by 8 p.m. It is currently not known when the fire will be fully extinguished.

The fire does not threaten structures, and no evacuation orders have been issued, according to BLM. However, the wildfire engulfed one outbuilding.
