GREENSBORO, N.C. — As students head back to school Monday, the Greensboro Police Department will launch its 10th annual Operation School Watch , running Aug. 25 through Sept. 5, police said.

During the two-week initiative, officers will increase patrols around school zones, buses, and bus routes, focusing on traffic violations such as speeding, seatbelt use, and pedestrian crossing infractions.

Police Chief John Thompson said the program is aimed at keeping children safe.

“We urge all drivers to slow down, stay alert, and avoid distractions," Thompson said. "Together, we can make sure every child arrives at school and returns home safely."
