CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - In less than a week, Southern Illinois will be playing its first football game of the 2025 season.
The Salukis host Thomas-More, Saturday, August 30 at 6 p.m. And the excitement in Carbondale can be felt inside the program.
“It’s going to be good,” senior wide receiver Vinson Davis III said. “We’ve had a few scrimmages with no fans out there. We make a big play, we’re out there screaming and stuff. In the game, with the fans, it’s totally different. So I’m just ready for that energy that they bring, the Dawg Pound, just the regular fans that are back here and all, we’re just happy for them to be here.”
Runningback Lashaun Lester agreed, saying, “It’s going to be my first time being the starter at home on the opening game week, so I’m really excited about that.”
