WASHINGTON COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) - Crews with Forest Grove Fire & Rescue rushed to a brush fire in rural Washington County early Sunday morning, according to FGF&R.

They found flames burning down a steep hillside behind a house on Northwest Strohmayer Road around 2 a.m.

The house was evacuated as a precaution while crews worked to attack the fire from multiple directions to stop it from spreading.

Firefighters took more than two hours to deem the fire under control, due to safety precautions taken because of low light in extremely steep terrain, as well as working near damaged trees that had the potential to fall on the crews.

Ultimately, the fire burned one and a half acres through bushes and trees.

No one was reported hurt and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
