A group of young boys seated near the entrance of the Middletown YMCA notice a hulking figure walking down the hallway.

"How tall are you?" one of them asks.

Before he answers, another of the boys reveals the figure's identity.

"That's Layton von Brandt," he says. "That's the Appoquinimink boy."
