The Met Office has issued a warning to Brits travelling to the seaside today to enjoy a sunny bank holiday.

It comes as parts of the UK, including Greater Manchester, are set to reach highs of 28C - the last of the warmth before low pressure returns and temperatures drop to the low 20Cs from Tuesday, August 26.

The UK weather agency took to X, formerly known as Twitter , to share the warning. They wrote: "Heading to the beach this bank holiday Monday?

"Here are the current sea temperatures. Take some extra care though as waves will be building through the day along western coasts."

Alongside the post the Met Office shared a map of the UK showing the temperature of the sea all the way around the coast. The warmest the sea gets is 19C on the south coast of England, cooling to 14C all
