OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - In the professional volleyball world, fans don’t typically see this.

“The Hype Squad is really the first of its kind in this area. Especially with volleyball. It was a learning process, but the community took us in with open arms and so did the Novas’ brand,” Christa Gilson, the Supernovas’ Hype Squad Director, said.

During time-outs, replay review, or between sets, the Omaha Supernovas Hype Squad are the entertainers.

“It’s really easy when we have the best volleyball fans in the world here in Nebraska. We really feed off of them,” Krista Hinrichs, a Hype Squad member, said.

Over the weekend, all 32 members of the Hype Squad put pen to paper for signing day at Cheer Athletics in Gretna.

Take what is often a formality, and make it an event.
