Activity at bus stops could get £1,000 fine under planned new law
People caught vaping at bus stops could face £100 fines under laws going through Parliament. Brits could soon face eye-watering fines between £100 and £1,000 if caught vaping at bus stops, as part of new rules being weighed up by the UK government
Transport bodies across the UK would get powers to issue on-the-spot fixed penalty notices. Whilst there are currently no strict laws banning vaping in public, vaping on public transport is generally prohibited by most transport operators, including trains, planes, the tube, buses and stations.
The authorities will be able to decide on the size of the charge — up to £100 — but failure to pay on time could result in fines of up to £1,000. And it could apply to open-air bus stops
