PLEASANT HILL, Ill. (WGEM) - A first-ever circus is coming to the Pike County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Aug. 30.
The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus will feature big cats, trapeze artists, daredevils, juggling, and of course, a clown.
Attendees can also get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the show, from seeing the big tent rise to how they care for the animals.
“There will also be a ticket booth and food vendor,” said Pike County Fair Board president Joe Collard. “Also bounce houses, pony rides, all that good stuff for the kids before the show starts.”
Collard said the proceeds from the circus will be reinvested in the Pike County Fair Association to expand the fair and improve the fairgrounds.
Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the gate.
