David Stamey hears criticism of his decision to develop his farmland along the road that bears his family’s name. He plans to sell it to a company for a proposed data center in Statesville.

Some neighbors have expressed openness to the idea. One person only said they hope he dies penniless.

As Compass Datacenters moves forward with its rezoning and annexation requests to allow for a data center off Stamey Farm Road, David Stamey said he understands people’s feelings, but he said it isn’t a rushed decision.
