Commuters and drivers throughout the country will pay slightly more at the pumps this week, as the national average price for a gallon of regular gas increased to $3.161.

Monday’s price point was a marginal increase from Sunday, when the national average was $3.153 per gallon, and from a week ago, when a gallon of regular gas was $3.137, according to AAA .

Prices have remained steady all month, and, for the most part, all summer. While Monday’s fuel cost is higher than a week ago, it is approximately the same as a month ago, when the average price for regular gas was $3.16 per gallon.
