CARMEL – Two employees of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection were seriously injured when an ATV they were riding on overturned down a 12-foot embankment, ejecting one of the men and pinning the second.

Carmel Fire Department personnel and members of the Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Cops rushed to Belden Road in Carmel near the NYC Watershed property off Route 6 along with Empress Paramedics and the Putnam Bureau of Emergency Services after 9-1-1 calls were received.

The victims were located one mile off the road requiring an extensive extrication operation through wooded terrain. Firefighters and EMS personnel carried the injured workers out of the woods to waiting ambulances. Both men were rushed to the Westchester Medical Center one suffering from severe head trauma
