Malik Taylor, a social media creator with more than 200,000 TikTok followers, has died, his family announced.

"It is with love and gratitude that we, the family of Malik Taylor, acknowledge the incredible support and kindness shown following his untimely passing due to a tragic vehicle accident," Taylor's family said in a statement on Aug. 23 shared by his business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi.

According to local outlets WBTV , WCNC , and WSOC , Taylor died in a car crash that happened in Concord, North Carolina, on Aug. 20. Concord police responded to Lapis Lane NW around 7:45 a.m. local time and found a Nissan Rogue had crashed in an embankment about 20 feet off the roadway, according to the outlets.
