INDEPENDENCE, Kan. (KLTV) - Former Longview Lobo Xaryus Sheppard led the team in tackles, and picked up a sack in Trinity Valley’s 28-15 win over Independence Community College on Saturday.
The sophomore got the start at defensive end.
Sheppard finished with seven tackles (four solo) and a sack. In the second quarter, Sheppard brought down Independence quarterback Nathan Neal for a six-yard sack. Also on defense, Malakoff’s Parker Poteete picked up two tackles. Offensively, Malakoff’s Chauncey Hogg had four catches for 29 yards. Palestine’s Taj Wilson had five carries for eight yards. Crockett’s Jadyn Collins was 6-of-8 passing for 35 yards.
Trinity Valley will be the home team for a game against Monroe University at Wildcat Stadium in Palestine on Sep. 6.
