London Knights’ Noah Aboflan brought the Memorial Cup to his hometown of Elliot Lake for a few days at local landmarks late last month.

The 20-year-old left winger was born in Ottawa and spent his childhood in Elliot Lake.

The Memorial Cup tournament determines the champion team in the Canadian Hockey League. This year, it took place in Rimouski, Que.

It was a four-team round-robin tournament, with the Knights facing off against the Medicine Hat Tigers on June 1. The Knights came up on top with a 4 -1 win over the Tigers.

I had the opportunity to sit with Noah Aboflan and his family at Kiwanis Park in Elliot Lake on July 30. Aboflan sat under an ‘Explore Elliot Lake’ tent with the Memorial Cup and the Hockeyville Trophy , which was awarded to Elliot Lake on March 30, 2024.
