ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — An in-person public hearing will be held in Rochester next week to discuss New York's Draft 2025 Energy Plan.
The State Energy Plan includes an outlook through 2040 to meet future energy demands, prioritizing a clean, reliable, and affordable energy system. The plan projects 35 more gigawatts of solar and nine gigawatts of energy storage, a 26% increase in annual electricity demand, and a 23% increase in peak demand.
The full draft energy plan can be found here. The final State Energy Plan is slated for publication before 2026.
Public meetings will be held in New York by the New York State Energy Planning Board. One of these meetings will be held at the MCC Brighton Campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 4.
