WAIMANALO, Hawaii (Island News) -- A woman suffered multiple injuries after she rode her moped into another vehicle on Kalanianaole Highway on Saturday.

The collision took place around 5 p.m. in the Waimanalo area. A 21-year-old woman was riding her moped when she lost control of it and collided with a car.

Once paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident, they treated her for her serious injuries then transported her to a nearby hospital. The woman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Kalanianaole Highway at Flamaingo Street was closed heading towards Waimanalo before reopening over an hour later.

There were no other injuries reported in this crash.
