MANOA, Hawaii (Island News) -- Hawaii takes the victory in the 2025 season opener hosting Stanford with a 23-20 win.

The nationally-televised game was played on the Clarence T.C. Ching field in Manoa on Saturday.

University of Hawaii was down 3-0 in the first quarter and deep in its own territory. Quarterback Micah Alejado took the snap in the Rainbow Warriors endzone. He got pressure from up the middle then sacked and fumbled the football. It was landed on by Standofrd's Wilfredo Aybar in the endzone. With a touchdown by the Cardinals, Stanford led 10-0.

Hawaii rallied late in the first quarter, Alejado with some redemption and quick fire to Pofele Ashlock. A 3-yard hookup over the middle for the score. Hawaii cut the lead to 10-7.
