ROSEBURG, Ore. — Responding to reports of smoke swirling out of the structure, several agencies joined the Roseburg Fire Department to put out a residential structure fire at 544 W. Harrison Street at 6:15 a.m. yesterday. A search determined the house was vacant, but the house was left with significant damage after the fire had been extinguished.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy black smoke billowing from all eaves of the single-family residential structure, and flames were visible on the exterior.

Eighteen firefighters assisted with firefighting operations, supported by Central Douglas Fire & Rescue, Umpqua Valley Ambulance, Avista Utilities, and Pacific Power.

A primary search confirmed the home was vacant, and it was determined that no residents currently reside at the property. St
