As the 101st burning of Zozobra approaches at Fort Marcy Park in Santa Fe, the New Mexico History Museum is inviting visitors to explore the history of this annual event with an exhibit titled "Zozobra A Fire That Never Goes Out."
The exhibit offers a deep dive into the century-old tradition, which is celebrated every Labor Day weekend, allowing people to engage with the story of "Old Man Gloom" all summer long.
"Zozobra means change, renewal, and letting go and being in the moment," Sam Jones said.
"Everybody comes together to rid the town of gloom, depression, and sort of free themselves of the baggage of the year and start fresh," said Doug Preston
The exhibit at the New Mexico History Museum showcases the pageantry seen on stage, models of Zozobra's construction, and iconic objects
