Nashville SC’s game against Orlando City SC over the weekend had the feel of a pivotal contest for the Boys in Gold.

NSC entered the game on a season-high, three-game losing streak. And a fourth consecutive loss might well have brought an end to the team’s hopes of winning the Supporters’ Shield, given to the MLS team with the best regular- season record.

A victory, on the other hand, would allow Nashville to keep pace in the chase for the Supporters’ Shield, as well as bolster NSC’s chances for home-field advantage in the first round of the MLS playoffs.

The team’s opponent, Orlando City SC, had won its last four MLS contests and entered the game with the same number of points — 47 — as Nashville.
