OLD TOWN -- The Old Town Police Department is urging residents to keep an eye out for a lost lizard.

According to Sargent Bailey of the Old Town Police Department, they took a call from a homeowner on Hillside Avenue.

This individual had first seen the reptile under their porch, but shortly after, it ran off.

Sargent Bailey says they believe it is a tegu, which are known for having sharp teeth and claws, and they can grow up to 4 feet long.

“They’re not inherently dangerous, but if they get defensive or feel threatened they can lash out… they have those sharp teeth. So, we’ve been in communication with the animal control officer and the warden service, so we have a plan in mind to get it back home," says Sargent Bailey of Old Town PD.
