AMES, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa State University (ISU) Police Department found “no credible threat” Monday after receiving reports of an active shooter on campus.

According to a release from the ISU Police Department, officers responded to campus Monday morning after receiving multiple calls regarding an active shooter. Police confirmed the reports are false, and there is no threat.

Police said the calls “appear to be similar to several anonymous and false ‘swatting calls’ at universities across the country,” prompting a large response from law enforcement.

The ISU Police Department also said it will continue monitoring the situation in order to ensure the safety of staff and students.
