AUSTIN, Texas — After Tesla reduced its headquarters’ property value by more than $1 billion, the chief appraiser of the Travis Central Appraisal District (TCAD) was cleared to file a lawsuit against the electric car company.
The Gigafactory was originally valued at $4.6 billion by TCAD in July, but the company disputed this, leading to a $3.4 billion valuation by the appraisal review board.
TCAD has not filed a lawsuit yet but has given approval to move forward with one if it decides to.
This approval is the latest in legal battles for the electric car company. On Aug. 4, shareholders of the company filed a lawsuit against the company and CEO Elon Musk. The lawsuit accuses them of securities fraud for concealing the risks of their self-driving vehicles.
The lawsuit is spearheaded by T
