LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was caught on Sunday after dropping a stolen gun inside a convenience store, police say.
Around 8 a.m., officers responded to a report of an armed man at a convenience store near North 27th and Dudley streets.
Witnesses reported that 25-year-old Zavion Simmons entered the store carrying a rifle and placed items on the counter.
During the transaction, he dropped the gun, according to police.
He picked up the gun and paid for the items before leaving the store.
Police said that despite paying for the merchandise, employees and customers feared that a robbery was happening.
Shortly after, officers found Simmons and took him into custody.
Officers discovered that the firearm was stolen from a nearby home.
