With the last full week of August commencing, Emporia High’s sports schedule also begins, with girls' tennis starting up. The team saw a lot of success last season with three of their six varsity players qualifying for State, and they look to build off that beginning this week with the Emporia invite on Aug. 28 at 3:00 p.m.
Last season, junior Kali Keough would finish in ninth place at State after coming in as the 12 th seed. Juniors Peyton Chanley and Kinsley Hines were Emporia High’s number one doubles team and entered State as the 19 th seed and won a set in the consolation side of the bracket before bowing out. They are now going into their senior season looking to build off last season.
