Coach Jake Dickert of Wake Forest has picked the starting quarterback for Friday night’s game against Kennesaw State.
Redshirt senior Robby Ashford, who is playing in his sixth season of football and for his fourth school, will get the nod for the 7 p.m. start at Allegacy Stadium in Winston-Salem. The game will be carried on the ACC Network.
Dickert announced the choice to reporters on Monday afternoon.
Ashford has the most experience among the team's quarterbacks, having started 11 games over a career that’s spanned stops at Oregon, Auburn and South Carolina.
Ashford beat out Deshawn Purdie, a sophomore transfer from Charlotte, who shared time with Ashford in preseason camp.
