CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — ISO New England said the stop-work order received by Revolution Wind could "increase risks to reliability" across the region.
The Revolution Wind project, a 65-turbine wind farm off the coast of Rhode Island, was set to bring power to over 350,000 homes in Connecticut and Rhode Island, according to the project's lead company, Ørsted.
The Department of the Interior Bureau of Ocean Energy Management issued a stop-work order on the project on Friday, bringing all work to a halt.
ISO-New England is an independent non-profit system operator responsible for the transmission of electricity across six states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
The project was set to bring power at a rate of 9.8 cents per kilowatt hour, cheaper than average costs
