Passengers onboard a flight from Atlanta to the Scottish capital last night was cancelled after a 'strange odour' was discovered on the plane.
The Delta 34 flight departed the Georgia airport at 11.20pm on August 24, but shortly after takeoff, it was forced to divert to JFK airport in New York, where it landed at 12.05 am on August 25 and was later cancelled.
All 172 passengers and 10 crew members had to disembark the Boeing 767 for repairs to be carried out overnight.
Delta Airlines said the crew had reported an odour linked to the galley drain system.
It is understood customers were provided hotel accommodation overnight and are due to depart from New York to Edinburgh on Monday August 25.
