A flash flood watch will be in effect Monday from noon through the evening for much of the Pikes Peak region, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

The flood watch area includes El Paso, Teller, Pueblo and Fremont counties as well as others south to the New Mexico border.

"Rain will begin to develop around the lunch hour in the mountains, but should hold off until after 3 to 4 p.m. for the Pikes Peak region and I-25 corridor," said Alan Rose, meteorologist for Gazette news partner KOAA. "Much like yesterday, a deep plume of subtropical moisture will allow for big soakers later today, and a small risk of severe weather. A Flood Watch will remain in effect on Monday from noon until midnight."
