HIGHLAND COUNTY, Ohio —
A man is dead and another person was taken to the hospital after a crash in Highland County Sunday.
It happened around 11:50 a.m. when troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the intersection of State Route 138 and Mad River Road for a report of a crash. Advertisement
According to OSHP, a preliminary investigation showed a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling south failed to stop at a stop sign, entered the intersection and hit another vehicle, a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse.
Both vehicles traveled off the southeast corner of the intersection where they came to a stop.
One of the passengers in the Chevrolet Traverse was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as David S. Ayers, 97, from Hillsboro.
