A teenaged boy is in hospital with serious injuries after being assaulted in St. Catharines by three people, one of whom was armed with a baseball bat.
At 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Niagara Regional Police were called to the area of Vine and Holden streets, about a block north of Niagara Street.
Police said the youth was walking on Vine Street when three people got out of a small black SUV that was parked on Holden. One of the suspects assaulted the youth with the bat until he fell to the ground and lost consciousness.
The suspects fled the scene in the SUV and were last seen going north toward Carlton Street.
The victim was taken to an out-of-region hospital, where police said he remained in serious condition.
Detectives from the 1 District criminal investigation branch are looking for area
