Following a bipartisan trip to Jordan, U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen said that country’s cooperation with the West is critical to delivering humanitarian assistance to Gaza and to achieving a lasting peace in neighboring Syria.

U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, R-South Carolina, co-led a delegation of House and Senate members that had a series of meetings including one with King Abdullah II.

Shaheen thanked Abdullah for that country’s assistance to U.S. troops during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel last June.

The group also met with Jordan Prince Rashid bin El Hassan while visiting a U.S.-supported warehouse operated by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization.

The nonprofit has been a critical planning and distribution point for relief throughout the region including in Gaza.
