President Donald Trump's continued references to himself as a dictator and the silence from Republicans stunned one prominent political analyst.

Progressive YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen said on a recent episode of his show "No Lies" that Trump's repeated references to himself as a dictator reveal that he is trying to normalize the idea in the minds of Americans. Cohen was aghast that Republicans appear to be implicitly condoning Trump's comments by choosing not to speak out against the remarks.

"No matter what happens in this election, for years to come, there are many people on the right, in the media, and voters at large who are going to have to explain and justify how they fell into this trap of supporting Donald Trump," Cohen said.

"These people are weak, small, impotent cowards who are more concerned with proximity to power than their oaths of office and the Americans they purport to represent," he continued.

During his campaign, Trump said he would not become a dictator "except for Day 1." However, many analysts have noted that Trump has rapidly consolidated executive power since taking office and is now seeking to use that power to influence the functions of the federal government.

Republicans would likely be up in arms if any other president made the same moves Trump has made, Cohen argued. So, their repeated silence as Trump continues to steamroll over the American system of government reveals a lot about their character, he added.

"The fact that these people are nothing more than spineless little b------ more afraid of Trump than they are concerned about helping their own constituents is how we landed here," Cohen added.
