An active shooter has been reported at the University of Arkansas, according to an alert from the school on Monday, Aug. 25.

"Avoid the area of Mullins Library due to an active shooter reported," the University posted on X , around noon.

USA TODAY has reached out to a university spokesperson. "We are unable to take your call at this time due to a potential campus emergency," the university media line's voicemail said just after noon ET.

It was not immediately known whether the threat had been deemed credible or if anyone was injured.
