A man suspected in a Grand Junction shooting was arrested in Montrose Sunday morning on Marine Road.

Arthur Lucas, 45, was detained for the Grand Junction Police Department and is suspected of first-degree assault and illegal discharge of a firearm, according to the GJPD.

According to that agency’s Monday news release, the Grand Junction investigation began Saturday night, when officers responded to the Sprouts grocery store parking lot on Independent Avenue upon multiple calls that people there were breaking out car windows and that a gun might be involved.

Several vehicles fled the scene. Officers soon contacted one of the vehicles in the Sam’s Club parking lot, where they found a man who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital with a severe injury.
