Police say the suspect, Emerson Evans, admitted to administering abortion-inducing drugs to his pregnant girlfriend without her knowledge or consent.

An Illinois man has been arrested and charged with intentional homicide of an unborn child after he allegedly caused his girlfriend to have a miscarriage by secretly giving her abortion medication.

Emerson Evans, 31, of Bloomington, was taken into custody on Friday after police responded to a medical emergency call at a local apartment. According to a statement from the Bloomington Police Department, officers arrived to find a pregnant woman in distress, who was subsequently determined to be experiencing a miscarriage.
