MARINETTE, Wis. (WFRV) - A 13-year-old boy has died following a drowning incident near the Government Pier in Marinette last week.
Police say they were called to the Menominee River around 1:30 p.m. on August 20 for a report of a possible drowning. Officers spotting the victim in the water and, with the help from fire personnel, pulled him onto a rescue boat.
The teen was taken to Aurora Medical Center Bay Area and later transferred to St. Vincent's Hospital in Green Bay.
He died on Saturday, August 23. An Autopsy is scheduled for August 27.
As part of the investigation, a 16-year-old and a 21-year-old have been taken into custody. Charges have been referred to the Marinette County District Attorney's Office for review.
