YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- Attempted murder and other charges were filed over the weekend against a York man after police say he struck a woman with a hatchet.

Online court records show Juan Ortiz-Ortiz, 64, faces charges from the hatchet attack Saturday around 12:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of East King Street, York City Police said in court documents.

The woman was able to get the hatchet away from Ortiz-Ortiz after he allegedly swung it at her, hitting her in the left arm. Police said Ortiz-Ortiz swung at her head, but she was able to raise her arms to defend herself.

The victim was able to give the hatchet to a witness after she snatched it from Ortiz-Ortiz, then she got inside the witness's vehicle to get away from O
